Q: Does Common Goal do any work outside of Indianapolis?
A: No, Common Goal is an initiative of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, so it only focuses on the greater Indianapolis area, or Marion County. This includes eleven separate school districts.
Q: I live outside of Indianapolis and I’m interested in duplicating Common Goal in my area. How do I learn more?
A: Contact our Common Goal Manager at commongoal@indylink.com or call (317) 464-2222 to schedule a personal meeting.
Q: Does Common Goal include charter schools?
A: Common Goal focuses on traditional public high schools in Marion County, which includes up to twenty schools. While charter schools are also public schools, most feature intervention strategies unavailable to students in traditional public high schools like internships, small class sizes, and mentors.
Charter schools are playing an incredibly important role in working towards our common goal of increasing graduation rates in our community. Any charter school is welcome to upload and research intervention strategies to the Common Goal database.
Q: My child could really benefit from a Common Goal intervention. How do I sign him/her up?
A: Common Goal collaborates with school districts to serve each student population, so it depends on where your child attends school. Refer to the chart of interventions and contact your school district administration for further information.
Q: How can I sign up my community organization to be a part of Common Goal?
A: The only way to improve our community’s graduation rates is to work together towards our common goal. Many community organizations work either directly or indirectly towards increasing these rates, and Common Goal is dedicated to ensuring that these organizations and schools collaborate.
For information about our Advisory Committee, contact our Common Goal Manager at commongoal@indylink.com or call (317) 464-2222.
